FAQ

Why can’t I find a specific Last Minute Gourmet product at my local grocery store?
We do not have any control over the inventory your retailer chooses to carry. Our sales representatives can make suggestions, but the retailer makes the final decision as to what products they will sell. As a consumer, feel free to contact the manager of the store where you shop to inform them of your interest in Gourmet Kitchens, Inc. products.

What is freshness dating?
Freshest or Sell By dating usually indicates how long the product will be at its best. GKI uses both “Sell By” and “Use By” dates on most products so consumers can easily see when the product should be consumed.

What does the "Use By" date mean?
The “Use By” date on a food product is the date which the manufacturer recommends the product be consumed by.

What is the “Sell By” date?
The “Sell By” date on a food product is the date which the manufacturer recommends the product be sold by.

What is the lot code?
The lot code is a series of numbers coded onto the product package that indicates the specific date of production.

Where can I find the lot code?
The lot code is located on either the front of the package, usually near the “Sell by Date” and “Enjoy by Date” or on the back of the label near the ingredient and nutrition statement.

What is a UPC?
The Universal Product Code symbol is the bar code that is printed on the package, with several black vertical lines and a group of numbers printed underneath. It is used as an inventory control for both GKI and the store.
